RMH of Chapel Hill Wishes Happy Birthday to Trent and Tyuss!
Five years after being introduced to the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill, Trent and his twin brother Tyuss returned to the House to celebrate their 18th birthdays together. Trent was diagnosed with NK-cell Leukemia when he was 13-years-old. Since then, the House has served as a safe haven for Trent and his family.
“The RMH has helped our family a ton,” Trent said. “When we had to stay up in Chapel Hill for long periods of time and didn’t have the money to stay at a hotel that was [Bone Marrow Transplant] safe, we could stay at the RMH. They have been a blessing not just to our family but to a lot of families that stay there. When we go to the RMH, we don’t have to worry about ‘do I have enough money to stay here, what are we going to eat, and where am I gonna lay my head tonight and still be close enough to the hospital in case my child has a serious emergency?’ The RMH has been very helpful and is a safe place for children with cancer to stay.”
From all of your family at RMH of Chapel Hill and RMHC of NC, we wish both of you a very Happy Birthday!
Day of Hope and Happiness 2019
We want to give a big THANK YOU to the N.C. State Fair, which hosted 180 people for this year’s Day of Hope and Happiness. These families from across our seven Houses enjoyed a VIP experience of the state fair, which included goodie bags, unlimited ride wristbands and lunch.
Since 2015, the state fair has hosted RMH families in honor of Michael Breuer, who was an avid N.C. State Fair fan. Michael was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of four. After a long brave battle, Michael passed away in October 2014 at the age of seven.
Thank you for an incredible day, in the memory of one incredible boy!
RMH of Winston-Salem Appreciates Caitlynn!
These shelves were empty before 15-year-old Caitlynn came to drop off her amazing donation! She raised over $2,000 and spent a portion of it on wish list items before donating the rest! In her words “I bought everything on your wish list and some things twice!” We couldn’t be more thankful for Caitlynn and her big heart!
